Results
- Across all 100 participants, average total body weight loss was 5.1% at 12 weeks.
- Among the 40 participants who continued taking MOTUS daily through the 24-week extension phase, average total body weight loss rose to 10.4%, with 87% of the loss coming from fat rather than lean mass.
- A clear dose-response pattern appeared when participants were grouped after the fact by lifestyle habits:
- 14.83% average loss with a healthy diet and exercise 4 or more times per week
- 10.02% with an average diet and exercise 2 to 3 times per week
- 8.92% with an average diet and no exercise
- 7.69% with a poor diet and no exercise
- No major or long-lasting side effects were reported.
How to read these results
Limitations, stated plainly.
- The study was open-label with no placebo group, so some of the effect may come from participation itself rather than the supplement.
- Diet and exercise habits were self-reported, and the four behaviour groups were formed after the data was collected, not assigned in advance.
